DUKE OF GLOUCESTER OFFICALLY OPENS THE INSPIRE BRADFORD BUSINESS PARK

Published 25/10/2012

The Duke of Gloucester officially opened the business park that provides training, education and social activities for a wide range of businesses and start-up enterprises on Tuesday 23rd October.

The Duke of Gloucester, who has keen interest in architecture and is a corporate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), was given a tour of the business park’s facilities and was given the opportunity to try his hand at creating one of the building’s innovative insulation panels. The eco-friendly panels supplied by Sheffield-based, Recovery Insulation use Inno-Therm insulation - a thermal and acoustic insulation manufactured using fibres from waste denim.

As part of the special visit, the Duke also spent time talking to Stainforth Construction, the Shipley-based contractors responsible for building the business park, as well as tenants, including SNOOP, - a not-for-profit organisation that offers care for children and young people with disabilities, Space Connections – an organisation that provides space education resources, and the Bradford Beekeepers Association.

A special plaque was then unveiled marking the occasion before the Duke of Gloucester was presented with a commemorative book featuring photos of the life of the development. Speaking at the event, his Royal Highness praised the Newlands Community Association (NCA), who own and manage Inspire Bradford, for their courage in creating the business park and providing an environment that will benefit many businesses.

The event was attended by around 80 invited guests including the Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford, local dignitaries, Inspire tenants and trustees of the NCA.

Tony Holdich, NCA chief executive, said: “We were delighted when the Duke of Gloucester requested a visit to Inspire Bradford, and our trustees and tenants certainly enjoyed welcoming him to the development and showing him the wonderful facility that has been created.

“To have Inspire Bradford opened by such a prestigious guest is a fitting celebration of the hard work that everyone has put into making Inspire Bradford the success it is today.”
